Passion Drives, Reason Holds The Rein

Today popo (my grandmother) would be 81 years old if she is still alive. I wish she's here so I could greet her and hug her close as I always do. Popo was the one who brought me up for the past 21 years and Ive been missing her everyday. the lord took her on boxing day 2007 and I was glad to spend that last Xmas with her frail cold hands close to my heart. Her last moments were flash backs of her respected life, I saw tears from her eyes as she couldn't speak much, as i told her how thankful I was to be her only grand daughter and how much she inspired me...I assured her I would be fine as she brought me up well :) as I kissed her forehead and whispered how much I loved her...she took her final breath and smiled ..with peace I saw her bid goodbye.
There are newspaper cuttings of me in her room, photos of me winning a few titles from previous pageants. she was my biggest fan and I know how proud she would be knowing I made it as one of the finalist as a Miss World Malaysia 2009. Her guidance and wisdom has brought me this far, shes part of my drive and inspiration, I truly believe shes looking down from heaven with the biggest smile on her face supporting me till the end : )
I sometimes hear her speak to me and how everyone says I resemble her so much, gives me even more courage to be confident in this pageant as I know she was a strong woman of substance and what a brilliant lady too.
I'll be heading home to Malacca in a few hours time to celebrate Raya with my muslim cousins, how I long to eat the delicious rendang and favorite sambal udang! I usually spend most of the first day of Raya in the kitchen as i love serving and eating at the same time..my cousins and me will catch up during this festive season and best part is us all seated in a table gossiping and slicing the ketupat for the guest outside.
Its been a blessed year so far in terms of opportunities and I also heard from mom that papa has been voting and campaigning for me vigorously ! I'm going give him a big warm hug when I see papa tomorrow and thank him for his wonderful support. Family plays a big part of our lives and knowing how supportive the Wong's have been just makes me want to assure them that I'll give my best and its always an extra mile I'll take with 200 % to make my family proud :)
